Crafty Woman Wednesday – {Etsy Items}

Hello hello my lil bloglets! So I apologize (yet again!) about a late post. It is still technically Wednesday though so at least it’s not a whole day. As I know you other mothers understand, life can get hectic sometimes and the hour will just slip away from you… or the day. So for this week’s crafty post I wanted to show yall what I made my baby boy and also some items I’m working on for my revamped Etsy shop. If you have tried going to my Etsy shop recently I’m sorry it is closed and empty right now. But I promise I am working my lil mama tail off to make some great things to add to it and get it opened back up. Now let’s get to the post…

When I was pregnant with the Bodester his aunt got him a pacifier clip. It was RealTree camo and we loved it… until we lost it. I have searched everywhere and I cannot find it. I went to Walmart (where she purchased it) to buy a new one and they didn’t have any like it or any cute boy ones so I decided I would just make him a couple myself. I had never tried to make these before but I didn’t think they would be too hard, and they aren’t. I already had some Paw Patrol fabric leftover from some other things I’ve made him so I knew I would use that. All I had to buy was the little alligator clips for the end. Found a 15 pack on Amazon for like $7 and they were all different colors so I ordered those. The package arrived within 3 days and I went to town. I made Bodie two of them two different sizes and stitched his name on them.bodiesclips

These things were one of the easiest sewing projects I have ever made. Since I still had 13 other clips I decided to whip up a few more to put on my upcoming Etsy shop, because who doesn’t need a few of these when you have a baby right? So here are some of the other ones I made. etsyclips

I’ve made them in different lengths because I know with Bodie I need variety. For instance I don’t want a long one for just being in the car seat for fear of him getting it around his neck or something, however in the shopping cart cover it has to be longer so it will reach from the little hook to his mouth. I figured I couldn’t be the only mom who thinks like this and I know most of the ones in-store are all one length. So what do yall think? I think they are adorable and plan on making many more. Would be really cute in some team fabric also.

So that’s pretty much the gist of this post for the week. As for my Etsy shop stuff these are the only baby items I plan on selling right now. Most of my shop will consist of different type of bags, wallets and things of that nature. As soon as I am ready to open my shop back up with it’s new inventory I will let yall know! OH and don’t forget to keep an eye out the end of this week for a special baby essentials giveaway!! Until next time my lil bloglets…

Manic Mama Monday(On Tuesday) – {Baby Brezza Review}

Hello hello my lil bloglets! So I apologize for not getting this post added yesterday for the Manic Mama Monday series. My 6 month old has decided to go back to his 1 month old sleeping habits for some reason. So yesterday I was running on only an hour and a half of sleep and forgot it was even Monday lol. I’m sure most of you have been there a time or two. So anyway, let’s get this Manic Mama Monday rant started. For this week I want to focus on babies! Yay right? lol. This post is a review of a much talked about expensive item that is suppose to be a baby must-have…. The Baby Brezza Formula Pro!machine1

For those of you that are not familiar with this product, it is like a Keurig for baby formula. Water is kept on the left and powder formula is stored in the top. You can set the machine to do 2-10 ounce bottles, not that I’ve ever seen a 10 ounce bottle but whatever. The way it works is you set it to the size bottle you want to make, place your empty bottle underneath the spout on the adjustable tray, press the start button and voila! it dispenses the perfect amount of powder and just right temperature water into the bottle like magic. No more waiting forever on a regular bottle warmer or having to measure powder formula right?…. WRONG! This product is a piece of crap!

So while I was pregnant with little man I came across this on the internet and thought it was the most ingenious thing I had ever seen. I of course just had to have it and was completely willing to pay the ridiculous $100+ for it. But it was so not worth my money and it isn’t worth yours either! First off, the spout gums and clogs after every single bottle. So that means that busy newborn moms have to take the top apart and clean it after every single bottle! Well for a newborn that’s a lot. When Bodie Bear was a newborn we were using it and we started noticing problems with his bottles. One would look super watered down and the next would look super thick. Well of course at first I assumed it was a person error of some kind because so many people are hanging around and helping out when you first bring a baby home. However, we soon realized it wasn’t us it was the Brezza. It does not release the same exact amount of powder every time so who knows exactly how much formula it is putting in your baby’s bottle. For us we just went with it and decided to only use it to dispense the water at the right temperature and we would put the powder in ourselves. Ya know that way we didn’t have to go spend more money on a regular bottle warmer. But it turns out that it doesn’t dispense the same amount of water every time either! Despite having it set to the right ounces, the machine will give you 2 ounces one time and then the very next time it’s more like 3 or less than 2. Needless to say I was pissed. But it as been forever since we bought it, I bought it online and do not have the receipt and it was used so we just swallowed our losses and bought a regular run of the mill bottle warmer.

I really wanted to get this out there for other mothers or mother-to-bes because I know there are so many of you that will see it and think it’s completely worth all the money since it will save you time. I know because that is exactly how I saw it. But it really is not good for your baby. My lil guy has a lot of tummy issues and is allergic to cows milk and soy. In the beginning before we knew any of that the doctor had him switch formulas so many times and all I can think about is how some might not have been as bad if he was getting the right amount in the water you know? I really think that this machine made things worse for my baby because he did not get a consistent amount at each feeding. So take it or leave it, this is my opinion and my experience with The Baby Brezza Formula Pro. I think the idea of this machine is pure genius and hopefully some of the other brands out there I have seen are not as screwed up as this one. If it worked exactly like it was suppose to then I would say that yes it actually is worth the price for it because it is way faster then a regular bottle warmer and it doesn’t make the bottle itself hot to the touch because it doesn’t sit inside anything. Unfortunately this particular brand is a complete waste of money and in my opinion dangerous to your baby’s digestive system.

Welp that is it for this week’s Manic Mama post. I hope I have helped yall decide on whether or not you will be getting this machine. This week’s posts will feature a baby theme so stay tuned. Once again I’m so sorry this did not get posted yesterday when it was due. Keep watch this week for a baby essentials bundle giveaway I will be doing! Until next time my lil bloglets….

Crafty Woman Wednesday – {Sew Cute Scrunchies!!}

Hello hello my little bloglets! It is Wednesday and the first of my new weekly post series called Crafty Woman Wednesday! Every Wednesday of the week I will be sharing some crafting fun with yall. There will be sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting or just good ole paper crafts. I will also include kiddie crafts and kid-friendly crafting tips and tricks. So let’s get this series started!…

To keep in the spirit of this week’s theme – Tweens – today’s craft is a tutorial on how to make these Sew Cute Scrunchies!!scrunchies.png

Growing up a 90s girl, I LOVE me some cute hair scrunchies! And they of course like everything else are back in style. They are great for gals with long hair in the spring and summer months. This project is super easy! You can make them for yourself or the tween girl in your life. They are easy enough to make with your tween girl or even something she can make by herself and with friends. So let’s go over what all is needed for this project…

Materials:

Fabric(anything you want is fine)fabric.png

Elastic(small and stretchy!)elastic.png

A safety pinsafetypin.png

Rotary cutter or scissorsscissorsrotary.png

Threadthread.png

A sewing machinelauraashley.png

Gather your supplies and let’s do this! I’m going to be showing you two different sizes, large and small.

  1. To start, you need to iron and cut your fabric to size. For the larger scrunchie you want to cut a rectangle that measures 16″ by 4″ and for the small one, 12″ by 3″.adult16in.pngadult4in.pngchild12in.pngchild3in.png
  2. Next, you want to cut your elastic to size. For the large cut a piece 7″ long and for the small 5.5″ long.7inelastic.png5.5inelastic.png
  3. Now that you’re all cut up, it’s time to press. Fold your strip of fabric in half with the right sides together and press it with your iron.foldinhalf.png
  4. Next, you want to straight stitch along the long raw edge, leaving about an inch from each short end.seam.png
  5. Now, turn it right side out.turning.png
  6. Press! (I’m all about the pressing)rightsidesout.png
  7. For the finish, there are two ways you can do it, A or B. A shows more visible stitches but either you choose really has the same basic outcome. So for option A next you stick the safety pin through one end of the elastic like this:elasticpin.pngThen you simply thread the safety pin through the fabric tube you have created, making sure to keep hold of the other end of elastic and not pull it all the way through.blueelastic.pngFor option B the next step is to fold the tube so that the raw edged ends are together and clip or pin the touching ends.clipped.pngNow stitch a line where they meet to connect one side of them like this:closeupopening.pngThe tube will now look like this:opening.pngNow just thread the elastic with the safety pin through like for option A.
  8. Time to close up these scrunchies! Sew a zig zag stitch to attach the ends of the elastic together.(same for both options) For option A place the raw edges of one end of the tube inside the raw edges of the other end of the tube and zig zag stitch from top to bottom, including the elastic inside. (make sure it laid flat so as not to bunch inside) Option A scrunchie will look like this:bluescrunchie.pngFor option B, it’s just a tad more complicated. Take the raw end openings and fold them in on themselves so there are no more raw edges. Then, place one end inside the other end and top stitch across the top along with the seam you made when you turned it into a tube. This method does not touch the elastic and therefore gives you a tiny bit more stretch. But I promise it’s not much and both options turn out fine.

So there you have it!! This easy projects takes literally just minutes to complete so you can whip up a whole bunch of them. I think this would make a great activity for a girl’s slumber party! Just use plain fabric and add in fabric markers or paint and you’ve got yourself an adorable customizable party project for active little girls! Hope you liked this week’s first Crafty Woman Wednesday! Make sure to check out my blog next week to see what new crafting fun I have in store for you. If you do make some of these or especially if your little ones make some please share your pictures with me! I would love to see all your creativity!! Until next time my lil bloglets….

Manic Mama Monday – {Tweens!!!}

So here it is, the forever dreaded MONDAY!!! AAAHHHH! This is also the first post for my new weekly post series called Manic Mama Monday! In these weekly posts I will touch on parenting tips, rants and anything else to do with kids and parenting for the week. So to start off this series and this whole week’s theme I would like to talk to you about TWEEN GIRLS…. I know, I know it’s a scary subject but one that must be focused on this week. Most of society refers to tweens as girls who range from ages 10-12 right before officially becoming a teenager at age 13, however they are wrong. I am here to tell you that as soon as your daughter, granddaughter, niece or whoever starts acting and attempting to dress as though they are 17 then they are a tween. Girls mature at different ages and some way faster than others. Sadly, for me I have one of these girls. She is 8 years old right now but this started a year ago. For most people 6, 7, 8 and 9 year olds are still seen as “little” kids, so most parents don’t expect certain behaviors and activities from their children of these ages because they think they still have a few years. This is exactly how my mind was set. My oldest is 10 and a boy so I worry and expect certain behaviors from him that I never even thought about with my daughter. I still saw her as my baby and figured I had plenty of time to worry about how she dressed or acted in front of boys, how she felt about boys or how she handled herself online…. Unfortunately I was wrong. Both of my children have Xboxes and have Xbox live so therefore connection to the internet and Netflix and YouTube, a fact of which I honestly never gave much thought to. The reason it was ever given to them was when they were both obsessed with that Minecraft game and wanted to play online with each other and visit each other’s worlds so no biggie right? Well my son received a tablet for Christmas and started using Facebook and Facebook messenger. I allowed this because he only used it to stay in contact with my mother and other family members who live in other states. It was great, made my mom’s day that he could “text” her from Facebook messenger whenever he wanted. So then my daughter wanted in on the action and we got her an iPod. Biggest mistake I have ever made as far as gift giving for my kids!! At first, she used it for music and had some kiddie games on there she played constantly which was fine. She also used the messenger app to talk with family and even me. She would message me asking when dinner was ready and things like that. It all seemed peachy right? No! The downfall started when she got permission from her friends’ parents to message back and forth with them on there. This became a constant battle to get that thing out of her hands and face. She was facetiming at 7AM and sneaking messages out after bedtime on school nights. So I had to put time limits on the messenger, which I had to apply to both kids to be fair and my son had never needed them. After that, then she started acting a fool over messenger within her allowed timeframe. My wonderful baby girl was bullying her friend and they almost stopped being friends.  Now I say “bullying” but she wasn’t meaning it like that. She was all in all joking with her friend and acting crazy thinking it was funny but as most of you know things online and in a message do not always come across as people mean them to. So I had to answer phone calls and questions from her friends’ parents about why my daughter was being mean and didn’t want to be friends with their daughter anymore and a whole huge mess of crap that us moms DO NOT want to have to deal with. So as mommy duty would demand I took away her messenger privileges. She was still allowed to keep the app and message family members only! I blocked everyone else on there so she couldn’t talk with friends anymore. BUT the trouble did not stop there… next she became OBSESSED with YouTube! It was all she did. At first it was just annoying because she was watching videos of her favorite Disney movies and songs over and over and over again. Then she started watching those ridiculous challenges and prank videos. She started following and watching this particular guys viral video channel but I allowed it because they were ok for kids. They were really just dumb but nothing inappropriate. Turns out the guy was a 17-year-old boy and she looked him up on Facebook messenger and tried facetiming him and messaging him, you know the messenger that was supposed to be only for family now? By this point I was deciding that maybe she wasn’t mature enough to have all this technology at her fingertips and was contemplating taking it away. Unfortunately, my story does not end here, her brother came to me all upset because he had gotten on her iPod to look up something on YouTube and saw where she had looked up a sexual phrase on there. Being the good snoopy big brother he is he went into her history and saw that she had actually watched or at least clicked on at least three of the videos that had come up with her search. He immediately confronted her about it and said he was going to tell. He did tell however between the time he looked at it and the time I actually got my hands on it all the history on EVERYTHING had been removed! She is only 8 years old people!!! First off, where in the HELL did she even learn those words to look up? Or where did she learn what it meant and how to look up the right way? Then how did she know how to erase everything so there was no proof?? I was completely floored by this. I still see her as my baby girl and had no idea that she even knew or understand anything having to do with sex and I was so very very wrong. She now has no apps on her iPod except the messenger to talk to her grandparents and aunt with. It has to come to me to be charged and the very first time I look at it and any history from anything has been deleted it is gone. The reason I wanted to share this story is to warn other moms out there. I honest to goodness did not know to even look for or be worried about my precious baby girl looking up porn on the internet or trying to message with a 17-year-old boy. Of course now I am all up in their business when it comes to their internet because I’m totally paranoid at this point. Luckily that “boy” never did respond to her but OMG that could have gone a completely different way. She saw him as like a celebrity because he had his own popular YouTube channel. So please please please moms everywhere DO NOT be naive about anything with your kids and keep an eye on EVERYTHING!!! Trust me on this! I am so glad that I discovered all of this now that she is still younger before she is old enough to go out with friends and things like that. So there you have it, my Manic Mama Monday rant and warning for the week. I promise that not every Monday will be such an awful and tormenting topic lol I just had to get this message out there. When I told my friends who’s daughters are her age, they were so completely blown away and thought what I did, that their little girl was way too little to know anything about anything like that and was not old enough for any of that behavior. So now they know not to overlook the age and so do you. Alright my lil bloglets, until next time….

My First CGQC Live Cam!!

Hello all my little bloglets! So I am super pumped because tonight was my first Live Studio Cam chat with The Crafty Gemini Quilt Club. It was great! I think there were about 80 of us in there and they were all so nice and welcoming to me being the newbie. I was asking about the Block of the Month Mystery Quilt and they were all super encouraging for me to try and catch up saying I could totally do it. So now I’m definitely going to. I’ve only missed 3 clues but technically only 2 because the first one is about the fabric and whatnot and doesn’t actually make a block or anything. Vanessa was funny and had great goodies to share and talk about. She always cracks me up. I’m just so excited to be apart of something like this. I spend literally ALL of my spare time making something whether its sewing or quilting or knitting or crocheting or any crafting. It’s really nice to have other people like me to chat with and share ideas with and even get real opinions from. Don’t get me wrong, I love my guy but every single thing I make no matter what it is or how it turns out he always says the same exact thing, “Looks good.” That’s it lol no emotions no change up and honestly half the time I know he doesn’t even actually look at whatever it is. But that’s the difference in crafty crazy people like me and normal people lol. I could talk forever about sewing machines or fabric or anything crafty related, and OMG I could totally go on and on about different ideas I have for quilts for like every person I know that really goes with their personality. And not only is the community great but the benefits of the club itself are amazing. There are so many amazing giveaways and deals exclusive to club members and awesome projects and patterns every month. My first club project class is this coming Wednesday and I am pumped!! We got a sneak peak of what it is going to be in the chat tonight and even though it is way above my skill level I am still going to give it a hell of a try. It is going to be so freakin cute I just hope I can keep up. Well it’s getting late so I better get to bed, 5am comes early ya know. Until next time bloglets…

A Diamond in the Rough??

image

This morning my guy dug this beauty out of our basement! There’s a lot of old stuff here since this house is over 100 years old and has always been in the same family. Since he is a super Mr fix it he is going to get it running for me and clean it up. I’m so excited! Look at the throat on that thing!? Right now I have a Brother SE400 which is a sewing and embroidery machine but I’ve been wanting to get one for just sewing and quilting that has a larger throat. If he can get it working properly then it would be perfect. Old Singers are said to be good workhorses and it’s a lot bigger then my current. I just had to drop a little post to share this possibly wonderful discovery! Til next time bloglets…

Quilts, Quilts, Quilts

Hello hello my lil bloglets! So even tho it’s a little late for me these days I just HAD to write a little post and share a couple things I am super super excited about….
First off I have FINALLY finished the quilt top for my parents family memory quilt I’ve been working on for what seems like years lol only actually been months but still. I still need to put the backing and binding in but I think it turned out great for my first big quilt. I did the quilt as you go method and I’m very glad I did. So here it is…

image

My mom saw it in a picture after I was finished and she loved it so much she cried. See her and my dad recently moved out of state away from all us kids and grandkids so I wanted them to have something special, made from the heart where they would always have pieces of our personalities, our pictures and handprints with them.

Second thing I wanted to share is my second quilt that I started after my moms. It’s for my baby boy Bodie and it’s a color nursery rhyme theme. It’s all put together and quilted now just have to attach the binding. I’m very happy with it and hope he’ll love it. The top strip has deer cause he loves them and his name appliquéd. Every row of blocks is a different color or two colors and a different nursery rhyme character. The characters and names are machine embroidered. The bottom strip is paw patrol fabric cause he loves paw patrol. The backing is a striped nursery rhyme fabric.

Now the last thing I want to share is my exciting news…. for my birthday coming up my guy bought me membership to the Crafty Gemini Quilt Club!!! I am beyond tickled about this lol. For those of you who do not know, The Crafty Gemini  (aka Vanessa) is a YouTuber who has awesome tutorials on sewing and quilting projects. I absolutely adore her teaching style. She speaks like a normal everyday person and not like a know it all. Plus she’s funny. But anyways her quilting club is amazing! Weekly live cam chats, monthly giveaways, monthly swaps, block of the month mystery quilt, monthly video class and so much more!! It feels like Christmas! Lol so for my lil bloglets out there who are like me and sew and quilt then I highly recommend checking out her youtube channel and her website. If you just love her (which you will) then you should definitely join the club. Okie dokie well that’s it for this one folks. Til next time…

Mystery Tackle Box Review!

Ok so as mentioned in my last post, here is a review about a subscription box. My guy is going to be getting the Mystery Tackle Box every month because he’s catfishing crazy lol. We ordered a one-time box first just to check it out and see if it’s worth it or just a box of crap before paying for the subscription. Right off I want to say YES it is well worth the money.

The Mystery Tackle Box subscription is $15 a month, which is pretty cheap for anything this day and age. I amazoned everything in it and it is way cheaper to get the box instead of buy everything in it on your own. So here’s the unboxing pictures for you so you yourself can get an idea of what it comes with.

mtb8mtb9The first thing in your box is a card telling you “About Your Box.” It shows a list of everything included in your box along with a brief description and the retail price for the item. It also shares a website where you can learn how to properly use the items in the box if you are not familiar with them.

mtb2The second thing in the box is this little Dibble mini magazine.

mtb1You also get a Mystery Tackle Box sticker.

mtb10Included is a little scratch-off game where you can win prizes. (we did not win)

Now to the fishing goodies:

mtb3Magic Bait’s Strawberry Dough Bait 3OZ retailed at $4.95

mtb4Magic Bait’s Hog Wild Sponge Hooks 3Pack retailed at $3.00

mtb5Mudville Catmaster’s Dip Tubes 2Pack retailed at $1.99

mtb6Magic Products’ Dough Bait Hooks 3Pack retailed at $3.99

mtb7Tru-Turn’s Xstrong Forged Catfish Hooks 10Pack retailed at $2.49

mtb11Team Catfish’s Dead Red Blood Spray retailed at $5.49

So overall some pretty cool catfishing stuff and the box is a very reasonable price. We have already signed up for him to get them every month so I’ll definitely be posting if anything really awesome gets thrown in there.

I’m Back!!!

Hello hello my bloggy viewers! I know it has been way too long. My laptop has been under the weather for a while and I just recently got it working properly again. Plus having a 4 month old doesn’t leave me much free time. So here are some updates for yall. My baby boy Bodie bear is doing great! He’s allergic to milk so he has to take a hypoallergenic formula. But he’s growing great and he’s actually big for his age. He’s also very smart and spoiled lol. My other two kiddos are also growing and doing great. Both doing very well in school. As for me I have been kind of busy lately. Of course you all know how much I love to craft and especially sew, well I’ve started learning to quilt and I am completely in love with it!!! I have completed two wall hangings so far. This is my Easter one.  Easter Wall Hanging

The bunnies and things are appliqued onto the fabric and then I just quilted around them. I’m still not very good with binding but I’ll figure it out. Here is the one I made for Spring in general. Spring Shower Wall Hanging

It’s not perfect but I love it! The binding was some that my grandmaw had made and was left in her sewing/quilting stash that I was given. It was tiny lol. I think like 1/4 inch maybe. Not sure but I usually get the large double-folded so this was hard for me which is why the binding is messed up in more than one place. But overall I’m proud of myself and think it looks adorable. Right now I am working on a color block/nursery rhyme quilt for Bodie that I’m very excited about. I’m hoping it will turn out as cute as it is in my head lol. Here’s the layout of the top so far, only one row is actually attached right now. Nursery Quilt

I am going to applique his name on top and the backing is on it’s way. I found an adorable nursery rhyme striped fabric that matches perfectly. I also plan on using a rainbow striped bias tape for the binding. The top yellow and green row is “You Are My Sunshine”, red row is “Humpty Dumpty”, pink and purple row is “Mary Had A Little Lamb”, black and brown row is “Hey Diddle Diddle” and blue row is “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” For my first actual quilt I’m pretty proud. I think it looks good and will end up looking super cute. All of the characters and words are embroidered with my machine.

Welp there is all my latest doing to get ya caught up to speed lol. I know I’m not very exciting. I am working on getting a tutorial for a small tote bag up on here soon. Made my kids a couple and they are super easy and cute. I took all the pictures to make the tutorial I just haven’t sat down and written it all out. Plus I have never done one before so I must double check everything. I plan on adding sewing and quilting categories on here to start posting more tutorials and shares of things I am making because I make at least one thing a day. Also a little note, I will be doing a post soon about subscription boxes and am going to try to do a couple unboxing/review videos to go with it. My family has all signed up for different ones and I know I personally really liked looking up other people’s opinions and reviews about the company and what they got in each box so…

I will be posting soon I promise! Til next one….

Dork Alert! :)~

Hello hello my bloggy people! So I must share with yall what I have been up to the past couple days. As previously written within my blog I knit, loom knit and now crochet. Well a while back I used my daughters rubber bands from her rubber band bracelet set and made some grips for my knitting hooks. She never had an actual loom for them and the fold up one she had had broken so I used my long knitting loom. After I decided to learn crochet and received my set of hooks I wanted to make grips for all of them but we were out of bands. So I bought a loom kit and…. omg I’m addicted lol. I made my grips, then tried some bracelets and then tried making animal charms. Oh my goodness they are too cute. Now of course my kids are like “will you make me this?” “Can you make this?” Lol but I love it. So here is what I have made so far…

My adorable squishy pig

Crazy owl requested by my daughter

Mr crooked turtle lol

Cute tiny guinea pig.
I also made a lizard and a sword for my son but didn’t get pictures of them. I can’t help but just love how tiny and squishy they are lol! So anyways I’m a big dork and have spent the past couple days make rubber band animals for no reason lol. Just thought some of my crafty followers would enjoy. Oh and btw there is such a thing as loomigurumi which is basically crocheted tiny animals with the rubber bands and loom hook. Haven’t tried it yet but of course I probably will eventually. If I do I will definitely be posting about it but it looks kinda complicated so we’ll see. Well that’s it for this one!
